I'm resigning too, going elsewhere to seek my dream...

Martinez steps down as Rays bench coach

Rays place Molina, Figueroa on release waivers

Rays narrow managerial search to three : Cash, Ibanez, Wakamatsu are finalists to replace Maddon

Rays trade Hellickson to D-backs for two prospects

Rays ready to show they're still strong

Solid ownership, front office will keep club in right direction after departures of GM, skipper

Rays hoping to explore new ballpark sites

Rays exercise Zobrist's 2015 option

Few tweaks could be all Rays need to improve

Maddon opts out of contract, leaves Rays

Maddon stresses he wants to remain Rays manager

Silverman, Auld assume new roles with Rays as Friedman exits

Getting to be a lot like when Huizenga took apart the Marlins after winning it all. That pissed me off too. Now, I've got one foot out the door.

Jeter, we hardly knew ye...

It won't really be baseball without you.
(Of course, I said the same thing when Reggie retired.)

Taking my baseball and going home.

Sigh. None of my guys in the post season, except Price, Shields, Davis & Crawford. I don't necessarily care about the winning, I just can't stand football, basketball, or hockey. Hating the end of the season. Phooey.

Damn... the end of an E.R.A.

Ray no more, but shine on David Price, wherever you go.

Your excellence and perseverance are inspirational. Only fitting that you join the best pitching staff in the League.

I will miss you hanging over the railing and rallying your team, throwing strike after strike, smiling, blowing bubbles, being on my tv every night. Glad I saw you pitch last time we went to Tampa. {{Heaves large noisy sigh}} I hope this deal was worth it.

(To my Boston friends, my sympathies. I feel your pain. Yankees, nice gets.)

Lucked out on this one...

I was watching the Baseball Tonight trade deadline special show on tv, right before 4 pm and I heard the announcement. Thought I'd lost my two most favorite players, but an hour later, heard the correction and I'd only lost the one. Zorilla, you are no pirate!

What a day. Just keep breathing. Cherish your memories.

Got ím!

Chris Archer & Andrew Friedman make a great decision together.

So we know where he'll be for the next six years. Great choice!

Monday, March 31, 2014

Ahhhh, it's back, and

David Price cruises to 7th inning shutout & guys hit & catch like they're supposed to, maybe even a little better. Way to open the season, Rays, 9-2 over Jays. Glad we got to keep him.

I originally got the LA Dodgers, but this person whose team is named BROOKLYN DODGERS wanted to trade, so I can really understand wanting your team (see Ray Rays), I traded the Dodgers for Zorilla & the REDS, who did very well last year. Keeping Hanley, for now, but not the first week, when the Dodgers only play 5 games & the Rays play 7.

It's on!

The Rays go south to Fort Myers today to play the Red Sox, with Chris Archer on the mound for his first spring start.

The Rays have a lot of regulars playing:  DeJesus LF, Escobar SS,  Loney 1b, Myers DH Joyce rf,  Forsythe 3b,  Sean-Rod 2b,  Molina c,  Kiermaier cf,  Archer p

So do the Sox, sort of: Sizemore CF,  Pedroia 2B,  Ortiz DH,  Napoli 1B,  Gomes LF,  Bogaerts SS, Middlebrooks 3B,  Hassan RF,  Butler C,  Buchholz P
Except I still think of Gomes as the great Ray he was.

Time to start the Fantasy Draft. Oy. Do you take Granderson, even though he's a Met?? And Jeter, what's that going to be like? Can Cano play in the northwest? With a beard? Without DJ?

UPDATE:  Won it, 8-0. Nice.
